Panchatantra is a
collection of stories derived from Buddhist
sources, divided into five books or tantras,
each having its particular theme. Vishnu Sharma,
a great scholar, is asked by the king to educate
his less-than-intelligent sons in the art of
politics and the intricacies of living. These
stories about the interesting lives of animals
with human traits have retained their magic over
the centuries, and are still as fresh and
exciting for children and adults alike.
Little people who talk to
their stuffed bears and their baby elephants,
and share their lives in the colourful world of
the imagination, will find in these tales
another universe to explore. And perhaps, in
this journey, understand the little truths about
life, its roller-coaster rides, and the
interesting characters that people it. |
