Much of Bolero’s functionality is based on the secured, electronic
delivery of documents using the Internet. To understand Bolero, we
will analyze a simple business activity of sending a letter or document
using the postal service. The task is seemingly so trivial that we do not
even give it a second thought. But there are a number of aspects to the
postal service which act as the model for Bolero’s d-Commerce
initiative.
Analysis of the Postal Service
You write and sign your letter; then you seal and hand deliver it to the
post office. The post office receives the letter. You do not really worry
about what happens after that. You simply collect your receipt after
handing over the letter, and paying for the postage and registration.
You are at peace because you know that the document will reach its
destination. If you have selected the option to receive the
acknowledgment, you will get a signed reply form the receiver that
the document was delivered successfully in good condition.
This is the simple, effective and universally used method of transmitting
documents. If we could achieve the same result using a cyber post
office, a successful cycle of d-commerce can be implemented across
the international boundaries.
