Bolero- Exploring The Technology |

Bolero, the Electronic Post Office, performs many functions which we
studied earlier. While performing each of these functions,
Bolero uses technology which relies on proven standards. These
technological components have to be both proven and affordable. I
shall briefly summarize the technology and standards used by Bolero
in this chapter to show that they satisfy these criteria.
Proven Technology There are several competing technologies at any given time to encrypt and decrypt messages, and to transmit documents in a secured manner. It is common knowledge amongst cryptanalysts that evaluating soundness of these computations may take several years. Therefore it is important that the technology used by Bolero Network should be proven, tried and tested over several years. Affordable Technology It is important that the technology is affordable. A technology can be out of reach because it is expensive. It can also be out of reach because there are no software components to make it work. These two factors have been taken into consideration while building Bolero.
